Event 8 - Kankakee Elks CC

The Kankakee Elks golf course was built in 1926 by the noted Golden Age team of William B. Langford and Theodore Moreau, whose works include the vaunted Links of Lawsonia (Wisconsin) and Harrison Hills (Indiana).

Here on the banks of the Kankakee River, the pair whittled dense forest into a string of captivating holes, capping each one with an elusive, undulating target. Kankakee Elks’ satin-smooth, vexingly swift greens are its calling card—the best surfaces south of I-80, some have said. They’re also the 6,430-yard circuit’s best defense, since only a handful of bunkers and a solitary water hazard come into play.

Event 9 - The Open @ Harborside | Port Course

Harborside’s Port Course, which opened for play in 1995, immediately garnered national attention and has since been acclaimed as Chicago’s top public course. This challenging links course was designed by Dick Nugent in the true links tradition of windswept Scottish, Irish and English seaside courses. While it may seem like you are playing a course built for The Open Championship, the spectacular views of Chicago’s iconic skyline will remind you how close you are to home.

The fantastic finishing holes on the Port Course include the famed par 3 #15 “Anchor Hole” immediately followed by three holes bordering the harbor waters of Lake Calumet.

Golfweek, GolfNow and Golf Digest regularly rank the Port Course as one of the best public courses you can play in the state of Illinois.

While still a fair test for all skill levels, the Port Course proudly hosted the SBC Senior Open, a PGA Champions TOUR event in 2002. Bob Gilder defeated former U.S. Open Champion Hale Irwin in a playoff to secure victory. During that event, the Port Course received the ultimate compliment when two time Masters Champion Ben Crenshaw compared this Chicago gem to Muirfield, the host of several Open Championships.

Event 3 - The Masters @ Cog Hill | No. 4 Dubsdread

Known as the "Patriarch of Public Golf," Joe Jemsek always aspired to provide a country club experience and amenities to all golfers. Even with three highly successful golf courses, Joe was still concerned that he didn't have a course to better the finest country clubs in the United States. Joe partnered with the famed golf architect team of Dick Wilson (Bay Hill, Cog Hill No.3, Doral-Blue Course, Laurel Valley) and Joe Lee (Bent Tree, Palm Beach National, La Costa, Walt Disney World Courses) to create Joe's vision of a fourth course, one that would test the world's greatest golfers. Wilson/Lee complied and created what many consider to be each architect's best work.

The collaboration such a successful one, No. 4 has remained nationally ranked since its opening in 1964. Course No. 4 or "DUBSDREAD" as commonly referred to, was derived from the idea that a "dub" or poor golfer should beware and served as a warning of the challenges forthcoming. True to its name, this natural-style championship course places a high demand on shot-making ability by providing tight landing areas combined with heavily bunkered, large undulating greens.

Over the years, DUBSDREAD has challenged professionals and amateurs alike while hosting numerous PGA Tour and USGA tournaments.
