Event 2 - Village Links GC

Our course is one of most well-maintained in the area, giving it a “country club” feel. Open daily Dawn to Dusk.

Golfers surely appreciate the attention-to-detail we put into the course. Our modern layout features 118 bunkers and 22 lakes, with water coming into play on 15 of the 18 holes. Our greens, constructed to USGA specifications, are large and rolling, featuring A-4 bentgrass. Fairways and tees are generous, contoured L-93 bentgrass.

The property is particularly beautiful in the fall months, when the abundance of tree species display a variety of vivid color, and when the bentgrass thrives. This course closes in early December, and re-opens in Spring. Aeration to the greens takes place in early October; fairway/tee aeration in mid-to-late September, all accomplished with little to no interruption to your enjoyment of your rounds.

In 2004, Garrett Gill, son of our original architect, designed a complete renovation of the 18-hole course.

While much of the original routing was retained, every hole is notably different. Every green, tee, fairway and sand bunker was rebuilt. Sixteen water hazards were repositioned; 400 trees were removed to allow the addition of 300 yards from the back tees.

The biggest change was the new championship greens — larger, faster and more challenging than the original greens.

The new greens give golfers a sense of the modern championship conditions routinely found on the PGA Tour, and the added challenge helps golfers improve their game. Typically three clubs deep, the new greens require more thoughtful approach shots. While the intricate putting contours can be treacherous, the smooth A-4 bentgrass putting surfaces make it easier to sink long putts.

Blackstone Golf Club is both a classic masterpiece and a thrilling challenge that every golfer will admire and appreciate, featuring over 26 acres of environmentally protected wetlands. Event 6 - Seven Bridges GC

About Seven Bridges

Seven Bridges Golf Club is an 18-Hole Championship Course with a 4-Star Rating by Golf Digest. Dick Nugent, the legendary golf course architect, designed the course and opened for play in 1991.

Additionally, Seven Bridges has been named by Chicagoland Golf as a top five public courses in the metropolitan area. We also have been voted as one of “America’s Best Golf Courses”, “Golf Digest top 20 in Illinois”, and are former hosts of Michael Jordan’s Charity Classic.

Par is 72 featuring four Par 5s, ten Par 4s, and four Par 3s. In total, our 5 sets of tees accommodate the novice golfer while still boasting one of the most challenging tests of golf in the Chicagoland area for the more accomplished player. The course at Seven Bridges Golf Club is defined by its contrasting nines; collectively known as Helios.

The Course

Collectively the front nine includes the holes Serenity, Tranquility and Beachcomber, that may lull you into a false sense of security. Finally conclude the front nine with the majestic views atop the 9th hole, Strike the Colors.

In contrast, the back nine is defined by water. Holes 10 through 12 are known (not always affectionately) as the Bermuda Triangle. Once you’ve made your way through the remainder of the back nine you’ll be greeted by Maelstrom, the 16th hole. Markedly many consider it to be one of the toughest par 4s in Chicagoland golf. Finally conclude your round with Reward and Satisfaction, our 17th and 18th hole. Afterward settle in for a well-deserved visit to the best 19th hole we know of, The Dock Bar & Grill.

Playoff Stage 1 @ The Preserve at Oak Meadows

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns this magnificent golf course, which completed a butterfly-like metamorphosis in 2017. Originally, Elmhurst Country Club occupied this land when it opened in 1923. It was on that course where the legendary Ben Hogan won the Chicago Open here in 1941 over fellow Hall of Famers Gene Sarazen and Sam Snead. The forest preserve purchased the property in 1985 and converted it into Oak Meadows. In 2015, they started an ambitious $17 million renovation, resulting in The Preserve.

The course is as challenging as it is beautiful. At 7,015 yards from the Championship tees, there’s a lot of real estate to navigate. With a 74.1 course rating and slope of 142, it’s in good company with courses like Ruffled Feathers, Makray Memorial, and The Glen Club. The Preserve is manicured handsomely, with attention to detail. Grip-it-and-rip-it isn’t the best plan here, since practically every hole requires some thought to score well. The carts have GPS to aid in the planning process. There’s not an extensive number of bunkers defending the property, but Salt Creek traipses through the heart of the tract and complicates matters frequently. About half the holes here are east of that creek, and are more tight and wooded than those on the west side. The USGA held qualifiers here for the 2018 US Amateur Championship.

The Preserve offers plenty of space to practice the craft before teeing off. A full driving range with both grass tees and mats is available. Three separate greens allow putting and chipping practice, along with a bunker. The restaurant here is called The Greenway Tap, and is open year-round. A huge outdoor patio area offers an array of outdoor seating. The clubhouse itself is modern and striking. The Preserve’s pro shop offers a solid selection of gear. This place has it all.
